چکیده
India with 4% of fresh water resources is facing a dual challenge scarcity and pollution. Several rivers in originate from Himalayan systems forms the basis Indias Economy. River contamination diminishing quality reducing populations accessibility to clean safe drinking Water. As one significant perennial tributaries The Ganga Water systems, Yamuna passes through heartlands thegreat North Plains sustaining cities, feeding millions. Since major urban settlement it heavily polluted untreated industrial waste, sewage, domestic waste making its way into river. study presents comprehensive reviewof assessmentsof theriver special reference Quality Index based on severalhydrological parameters. Based levels whole stretch source (at Uttarakhand) till confluence Allahabad) has been divided 5 segments. While all lower stretches depict high very pollution levels, upper segment river Himalayas show good quality. parameters that BOD, DO COD are not range permissible limits Delhi but falls under segment. Other than these parameters, ammonia, TKN other organic inorganic matters fall desired standards region Yamuna.

Seasonal assessment of physicochemical parameters and evaluation of water quality of river Yamuna, India
The concentrations of toxic effluents released into freshwater aquatic environments are increasing day by day and affect the aquatic biota. The present study outlined the evaluation of physicochemical parameters such as water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), phosphates (PO42--P), nitrates (NO3--N), electrical conductivity (EC)...

Kosovo has limited natural water resources which should be well managed. This is recently realised through quantitative and qualitative monitoring of both surface and groundwater and by characterizing their quality according to their destination. In this paper, the Water Quality Index (WQI) developed by the Canadian Council of Environment Ministers (CCME WQI) was applied to evaluate the groundw...
متن کاملBacteriological water quality status of River Yamuna in Delhi.
Bacteriological water quality status in terms of total coliform and faecal coliform count was studied on both--east and west banks of river Yamuna in Delhi. Membrane filtration technique was adopted for enumeration of total coliform and faecal coliform count in the river water sample collected on monthly basis for 2 years--2002 and 2003. The study reveals the impact of diverse anthropogenic act...
متن کاملWater quality zoning of Vishwamitri River to access environmental flow requirements through aggregation of water quality index
Environmental flow requirements, to maintain the functioning of freshwater-dependent ecosystems and restore rivers in ecologically acceptable conditions, depend upon the present water quality status of the river. Various stretches of Vishwamitri River vary in quality and quantity. Water quality index is a tool to converse information regarding water quality of various stretches of river and can...
